One of the most noticeable features of your face is your eyes. Just about every woman on earth wants to be told that she’s got enchanting eyes. You’ve probably seen many women go to extremes to make their eyes stand out. For example, some women like using contact lenses or makeup to improve their looks.
Others make use of filters to enhance their photos to achieve that endearing look. If you don’t have access to sophisticated photo editing tools, you may feel you cannot achieve that same result.
However, the good news is that you don’t really need to wear tons of makeup or to get naturally beautiful eyes. A simple change like using anti blue light glasses might be the difference you need. As long as you follow these tips we share appropriately, you can easily enhance your eyes’ health and brightness.
Since water makes up around 2/3 of your skin, drinking plenty of water is of utmost importance. Drink plenty of water daily to keep your skin well-hydrated. Also, moisturizing the skin around your eye is a great way to keep it looking taut and youthful. To do that, soak cotton pads in cold water and rest them over your closed eyelids.
Ten minutes a day of this will keep your eyes feeling relaxed and refreshed. Also, you can hydrate the skin around your areas with a good moisturizer. Using a good moisturizer around your eyes is a great way to keep wrinkles and lines from appearing prematurely.
Note that the skin around your eyes is more delicate than the rest of your face. Therefore, you need to exercise utmost caution when selecting an eye moisturizer. If you find that using an eye moisturizer causes irritation or redness, we recommend using eye cream instead.
Get Quality Sleep
Your eyes are the first to show signs of exhaustion and sleep deprivation if you aren’t getting enough shut-eye. Make it a priority to go to bed early so you can clock at least seven hours of sleep. The skin around your eyes will thank you for that.
In addition to swollen eyes, lack of sleep can affect your circulatory system. With time, this habit can cause your blood vessels to become more visible through the delicate skin under your eyes. However, you can prevent this and protect your eyes by going to bed early. As a tip, sleeping with your head propped up on two soft pillows can help reduce puffiness and drain excess fluid from your face.
Massage your eyes
Most people don’t know this, but a simple eye massage is a great way to reduce puffiness and encourage drainage. Also, this helps to ease inflammation and lighten dark circles under your eyes. Follow the simple steps below to give your eyes a massage:
- Tap softly around your eyes with your index and middle fingers. Doing so helps increase blood flow to the area.
- Next, massage along your eyebrows, then run your fingers to the edge of your eyes, cheekbones, and nose bridge.
- Using your fingertips, circle your eyes three times, and then use your middle fingers to press the upper sides of your nose. The area just below your brow bone.
- After that, use your middle fingers to press inward toward your nose, right above your tear ducts. When touching the area around your eyes, be gentle so as not to tug or drag the skin.
Repeat this eye massage for 30 seconds or more to stimulate the skin around your eyes
Get a Good Eye Cream
You may need to try out a few eye creams to find the one that works best for you. For the best results,go for one that is both moisturizing and rich in Vitamin E. Stay away from eye creams that are too waxy or greasy. Waxy or greasy creams are notorious for causing milia and trapping dead skin cells around the eyes.
Instead, look for eye creams that help depuff your skin. Go for creams that contain caffeine or gentle exfoliants, as these ingredients are known to reduce puffiness. A plumping cream can help your eyes look younger.
Don’t Stay On Screens for Too Long
Most jobs these days require sitting in front of a computer screen for long hours. This wears you down mentally and physically leaving your eyes drained and dull by the time you are done with work.
However, this is easily preventable by taking breaks and looking away from the screen every 20-30 minutes. Also, try to take short walks and blink your eyes often to keep them from drying out. You can also purchase anti-blue glasses to reduce eye strain from screens.
Using natural remedies is also a great way to enhance the health of your eyes. Placing cucumbers on your eyes helps reduce puffiness. Cucumber juice is rich in vitamin C, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidants, which help rejuvenate tired skin and eyes.
To use, cut your cucumbers into two half-inch thick slices. Lie down comfortably and place a slice of cucumber on each eyelid for 15 minutes
Place Tea Bags on your eyes
Placing green tea bags on your eyelids is another effective natural remedy for reducing eye irritation and puffiness. Green tea bags contain epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on the corneal cells.
To use tea bags, first steep them in water and allow them to cool completely. You can also put them in the fridge and allow them to cool for 15-20 minutes. Next, lie down, close your eyes, and place the cooled tea bags on your eyelids for ten minutes.
Reduce Salt Intake
Excessive insult of salt has many dire effects on the eyes. For one, high sodium levels result in fluid retention or oedema. This fluid retention then causes inflammation, which manifests as under-eye puffiness. Another effect is that it may eventually lead to high blood pressure.
To prevent this, keep your daily sodium intake at 2,300 milligrams (2.3 grams) or less. Put simply, that is the same as consuming a teaspoon of salt every day.
Eat Foods Rich in Omega Fatty Acids
Another great way to get naturally beautiful eyes is to increase your omega fatty acids intake. Eat plenty of foods that are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Studies show that omega fatty acids are effective in treating dry eye syndrome.
Foods that are rich in omega fatty acids include salmon, sardines, chia seeds, walnuts, flax seeds, and mackerel. If your diet isn’t providing enough of these nutrients, consider taking omega fatty acids supplements.
